LATE 1930s 24 FT ROAD WAGON

Made from 1/12th scale plans drawn up by Vic King for MFD. These plans are still available from Doug Roseaman Engineering The model was made mainly from the plans but incorporated modifications suggested by John Pockett and using John Harris's lovely wagon as a loose guide for the interior. (more)

22FT 1909 ORTON ROAD/RAIL WAGON

I first came across this wagon in 1995 in Julian Wolf's yard when he was helping me with my first model. It was quite an impressive wagon and I tried to imagine what it must have looked like when it was new. At that time it seemed way beyond my capabilities so I put it out of my mind and got on with the model that I was working on but each time I saw it I was tempted to have a go at making it. (more)

1903 HORSE DRAWN HOWCROFT TUBE SHOOTER

Originally owned by Gordon Warrington from Pickering in North Yorkshire. It was built as a horse drawn wagon but I have seen a very early photograph which shows it being towed by a Showman's Traction Engine although it was still on it's wooden wheels. At some time in it's early life it was put onto small wheels with pneumatic tyres. The wagon was laid up at some time in the 1930s in a field and stayed there until about 1964 when it came to light and was purchased by the late Phillip Swindlehurst. (more)

1927 14FT ECCLES 'FORTUNE TELLERS' WAGON

These little wagons had all of the style of the much larger more expensive wagons and the interiors had lots of cut glass mirrors and display cabinets. In order to reduce the height, Ackerman steering was used which is the same as that on a car where the wheels turn individually on stub axles unlike the big wagons where the wheels are both on the same axle and turn together on a turntable. This wagon was originally owned by a showman named Owen Smith, it later belonged to living wagon decorator John Pockett and is currently owned by Julian Wolfe (who also owned the Orton wagon that I made). 27FT 1947 BRAYSHAW ROAD WAGON

Originally owned by Sedgewicks and now in the ownership of Julian Wolfe. It was largely original when Julian bought it but it has had a few changes since it has been in his ownership. The changes are mainly in the kitchen area but are very much in keeping with the original style. All of the pieces that have been removed have been kept so that it is possible for me to build the model as per the original wagon. (more)
