Birth date taken from 1939 census. Christening details obtained at Maidstone Records Office 15/02/2011. William married Selina May Driscoll, and it is believed they several children - Grace in 1912, Mabel in 1913, Daisy in 1914, Mary in 1916, and George in 1919, all registered in Maidstone. I cannot find that George had any children - I believe he married Ellen French in 1939, and that he died in May 1997. As I think he was the only son that is a shame as it is easier to follow a link to a live relative through a son. There is a public family tree on ancestry.co.uk that I have managed to link in with - William and Selina had a daughter Mary G Deacon, who married Frank Mercer in 1936(she later married Percival Smith in 1947). Mary had a daughter in 1938 called Yvonne Marjorie Mercer, who married Richard T Galliers in 1959. I believe that their granddaughter Chloe Jordan Glover is the person who has set up the family tree. They all seem based in the Maidstone area. I need to pay for an electoral roll viewing for Yvonne Marjorie Mercer, who I believe is still alive and living in the Rochester ME1 area.This I have done and I have written to her. 25/6/2011 viewed Marden baptism register at Maidstone Records Office, and found the following baptisms for children born to William Alfred and May. 9/6/1912 Grace Ellen Mary, parents living in Marden, father a labourer, Vicar R.E.Johnston. 13/7/1913 Mabel Alice Mercy, other details the same. 11/6/1916 Mary Georgina, father now a soldier.10/8/1919 George William, father now a labourer again. 9/1/1921, Thomas Alfred. 14/1/1922 Marjorie Dorris. I believe that William died Q1 1959 in the Maidstone registration district. 1921 census shows William with his wife and family living in Albion Road, Marden, Kent, employer Loyd G Humphrey(?), Farmer, from Fishers Farm in Staplehurst. 1939 census shows William with his wife and children living in Mayfield Linton Road, Loose, Maidstone, working as a builder's carpenter.
