Visit to Lewes Records Office 16/12/2014, looked at an old book, AMS5843/1 - survey of tenements and rents within the Queens part of Loxfield half hundred, dated about 1576, although it is believed to have possibly been from a few years before. Roberte Aviss was detailed as being at Arkifforde, believed to be Alkesford in Withyham, where John Avis lived and is in his 1599 will. He seemed to be sharing some bondland with a John Maynard.
