Notes:

Christening record shows his parents to be James and Sarah Taylor. In the 1871 census, his wife Diana was down as being afflicted. She died Q4 1873 aged 60 in the East Grinstead registration district, so presumably in Withyham. George remarried in Q4 1881 in the Uckfield registration district, 2b 234, to Martha Powell. It was her second marriage also, she had been born Martha Thompson. In the 1881 census she was at the address she was at with George in 1891 after their marriage, a widow, and was a cowman. In the 1891 census George, Martha and her son were in Buxted, near the Crow and Gate. Martha died in 1905.
