Details of christening taken from mormons genealogy website of England births and christenings, also baptism record viewed on visit to Lewes Records Office 11/3/2013 - Robert the son of John Avis baptised. Also on that visit viewed burial details on microfilm - it simply says burial of Robert Avis senior.I have bought a copy of a book, Historical Notes of Withyham, Hartfield and Ashdown Forest, by Charles Nassau Sutton, rector of Withyham, published originally in 1902. Robert is referred to as being a churchwarden of Withyham, in 1729 and then again in 1734. From 1714 to 1728 he was a tenant of Ham, then from 1724 to 1743 he was a tenant of Hendall, in 1734 he was a tenant of Hunts Farm. He was one of the signees of a workhouse agreement on 1/5/1738 with Robert Mills.%25250D%25250A
