Baptism register viewed at Lewes Records Office 31/5/2012 - the christenings of all John and Susannahs children showed that they were all baseborn/bastards. Richard married Hannah Akehurst, and in the 1838 census of Withyham, was living at Blackham Cottages, Withyham. He was down as very deserving but unable to work. His date of birth was confirmed as 1762. He and Hannah had 3 children, and in 1838, one son was unmarried and at home.
