Baptism register viewed at Lewes Records Office 31/5/2012 - the christenings of all John and Susannahs children showed that they were all baseborn/bastards. It is believed that William married Mary Quinall on 10/11/1770 in Withyham, with witnesses including Thomas Quinall. They had many children - Elizabeth, 1771, John, 1772, John, 1773, William, 1774, Thomas, 1776, Richard, 1779, Thomas, 1781, Ann, 1782, Annsley, 1785, David, 1789. It is believed that Mary Avis nee Quinall was buried in Withyham 2/12/1808. There are headstones at Withyham for their children Ann and John aged 2 and 12 when they died at Withyham(Ann died 1780), and there are headstones there for their children Thomas and Ann aged 0 and 7, buried 1776 and 1778.
