Notes:

14/6/2012 visit to Lewes Records Office viewed marriage details. 11/3/2013 visit to Lewes confirmed burial details - Phillis Avis, abode Hartfield, no given age, curate Reginald Windsor Sackville-West. The death certificate I have obtained I do believe is for our Philadelphia, although her age does not appear correct, and she is down as the widow of William Avis, whereas she was the widow of Richard Avis. I do not yet know of a family connection between her and Harriet Crouch, the informant who was present at the death. I can find no William and Philadelphia Avis who were of the right kind of age in previous census records, and our Philadelphia was living with her granddaughter Harriet at the home of her daughter Eleanor Willie and her own family in Hartfield at the time of the 1861 census, and granddaughter Harriet married and became Harriet Bailey. The Harriet Crouch was I believe originally Harriet Farmer.
