Notes:

Birth date estimated from age at death. He was down as a labourer on his daughter Rhodas marriage certificate.Details of marriage taken from parish record books on visit to Lewes Records Office 30/03/2011.On visit to Lewes Records Office 20/9/2011, found that he was buried on 27/4/1834 at St. Dunstans Parish Church in Mayfield, aged 58 years, by John Kirby. 11/2/2012 - visit to Lewes Records Office confirmed his christening details. There were actually 2 Richard Baileys christened, 1 in 1775 and 1 in 1774, the first to Richard and Lydia, the second to William and Elizabeth. I checked the marriage microfilm, and noted that the witnesses were a John and Catherine Metsage. On rechecking the christenings, I saw that there was a Catharine Bailey, daughter of Richard and Lydia, christened on 16/12/1770. I then rechecked the marriage records, and saw that a Catharine Bailey married a John Message in Mayfield on 31/10/1793. So, I believe that our Richard Bailey is the son of Richard and Lydia, and that Catharine is his elder sister, and was a witness at his wedding along with her husband%2521
