Notes:
Henry was a signalman for the South Clayton Tunnel entrance in 1861 when there was a terrible rail crash that killed 23 people - see the report attached. 24/4/2012 Confirmed christening details at Lewes - he was the son of Jesse and Hannah Killick. 7/1/2013 Visit to Lewes Records Office found a Mayfield bastardy bond PAR422/34/2/133 dated 24 Dec 1830, for a female child born 28/10/1830, against Henry Killick, yeoman of Rotherfield, the reputed father of the illegitimate daughter of Henney Deacon. Henry had to pay 16 shillings costs to prepare the order, plus 2 shillings a week maintenance to Mayfield parish. Henney was also bound to pay 6 pennies a week to Mayfield parish, in case she shall not nurse and take care of the said child herself. Found online through the Mormons genealogy website, under Personal Ancestry, details of a copy of a register of death which was obtained in March 1971, for Henry. He died on 9th November 1894 in Forest Row, East Grinstead, aged 83, retired railway signalman. Cause of death was senile debility and asthenia chronic diarrhoea. Informant was Mary Wickenden, present at the death. Registered 13th November by W. H. Wood registrar.
