Notes:
John was a labourer of Hole Farm, Boarshead. Rotherfield, on the christenings of his children (Lewes East Sussex Records Office 30/03/2011). 9/8/2011 at Lewes Records Office, confirmed date of marriage in Rotherfield parish records, and also baptism details, including details of parents. John died presumably at the house of the informant on his death certificate, Avis Helmley. I can find no family connection at present - in the 1861 census, John was lodging as a widower with his wife's family at Pellings - page 3 of the census, and Avis was living with her husband and children at Pales Gate - page 2 of the census. Avis nee Botten, born in Rotherfield in 1807, married Richard Hemsley on 25/4/1827 at St Denys, Rotherfield. 8/11/2011 Lewes Records Office and found an entry in the Rotherfield parish burial records - he was buried on 30/4/1865, aged 68, by William Dawes.
